Yangxin County (simplified Chinese: 阳新县; traditional Chinese: 陽新縣; pinyin: Yángxīn Xiàn) is a county within the prefecture-level city of Huangshi in southeastern Hubei province, People's Republic of China. The county is mostly rural, but more prosperous than its neighbor, Tongshan County. According to the Fifth Population Census of China (2000), the county's population was 949,100, making for the population density of 341 people per square kilometer. The county is made up of 22 township-level divisions.

Yangxin has 7 neolithic sites and 8 Shang-Zhou Danasties sites. In 201 B.C.E. the county was built as Xiazhi (下雉), the name "Yangxin" first appeared during Jin Dynasty.
From the Southern and Northern Dyansties, it became a noted tea producing area in Hubei. It became Xingguo Army (兴国军) in Song Dyansty. During this period, Confucian schools was first introduced into Xingguo. In Yuan Dynasty, it was called Xingguo Road, and has the biggist silver production among all roads in Hubei. In Qing Dynasty Yangxin area became Xingguo Prefecture.
In the late Qing Dynasty, it served as the headquarter for the west march of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. The prefecture was turned into a county in 1912, and changed its name to Yangxin County in 1914. In 1926 the committee of CCP was established, it then became a centre of the communist activities in Southeast Hubei. In the anti-Japanese War, the people of Yangxin formed 4 counter-Japanese base areas, they fought to protect Wuhan. Yangxin was occupied by the 43th Army, 15th Legion, 4th Field Army of PLA in May 16, 1949.
The southern part of the county, located in the foothills of the Mufu Mountains, is hilly.
The main transportation artery of the county is currently China National Highway 106, which, within this county, is also counted as China National Highway 316. However, it does not pass through the Yangxin county seat (Xingguo town); the town is served by Hubei provincial highway 316 (not to be confused with the national highway of the same number).
The Yangxin Railway Station is located on the Wuhan–Jiujiang Railway, which runs from Wuhan to Jiujiang, Jiangxi. A number of passenger trains running from the Wuchang (or sometimes Hankou) stations in Wuhan stop at the Yangxin Railway Station. The distance from the Yangxin station to Wuchang by rail is 153 kilometres (95 mi), the typical travel time by train being around 2 hours, usually with stops at the Huangshi station, Ezhou, and Huazhong.
