Snam

Snam S.p.A. is an Italian natural gas infrastructure company. As of 31 December 2017, it had a market capitalization of €13.953 billion.[2] Snam was originally a subsidiary of Italian energy company Eni. It has since become an independent company, whose largest shareholder is CDP Reti, a holding company controlled by the Italian state. The utility operates in Italy[1] and, through associated companies, in Austria, France and the United Kingdom.[4] Snam is one of Europe's main regulated gas companies - leading Italy in gas transport and storage, while ranking third in regasification.[3] Its main peers, in the regulated gas and electricity sectors in Italy and in Europe,[5] are:

  • Terna (Italy): the main grid owner, responsible for high voltage electricity transmission and dispatching nationwide
  • Enagas (Spain): Technical Manager of the Spanish gas System and the main carrier of natural gas
  • REE - Red Eléctrica de España (Spain): manages the transmission grid and acts as sole transmission agent; it is also the System Operator
  • National Grid (UK): operates in the regulated businesses of transmission and distribution of electricity and gas mainly in the UK and northeastern US

History

Snam was founded on 30 October 1941 in San Donato Milanese, Lombardy, with the name Società Nazionale Metanodotti.

On 1 June 2001, it changed its name to Snam Rete Gas. It has been traded on the Borsa Italiana since 6 December 2001.[6] On 1 January 2012, it was renamed with the original name of Snam.[6]

Sustainability

Snam's approach to sustainability is based on Shared Value,[8][9] a concept elaborated by Michael E. Porter in collaboration with Mark R. Kramer that explores the link between a company and its environment and their mutual interdependence.[10] In order to create Shared Value, Snam promotes sustainable development along its entire transport, dispatchment, regasification, storage and distribution process.[8]

In 2009 [11] the company joined the United Nations Global Compact [12] and since 2006 has published a sustainability report in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative's guidelines.[13][14] Moreover, Snam operates within the reference framework of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Fundamental Conventions of the ILO and the OECD Guidelines on Multinational Enterprises.[15]

Its commitment towards the environment focuses on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and safeguarding biodiversity.[16] Among its social initiatives, Snam partners with Legambiente [17] and Federparchi [18] and, in 2012, joined the Sodalitas Foundation, which seeks to build bridges between the entrepreneurial world in Italy and the non-profit sector.[19]

Adriatic LNG terminal

The Adriatic LNG terminal is a liquid natural gas offshore terminal, formally known as Terminale GNL Adriatico Srl. Located in the northern Adriatic 9 miles (14 km) offshore of Porto Levante, Porto Viro, near Rovigo, Italy, it is the world's first offshore gravity-based structure LNG regasification terminal. The terminal is operated by ExxonMobil (70%), Qatar Terminal Ltd., a subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum (23%), and Snam (7%).

Bakan District

Bakan District (Khmer: ស្រុកបាកាន) is a district in Pursat Province, Cambodia. The district capital is at Trapeang Chong located on National Highway 5 around 15 kilometres north of the provincial capital at Pursat town.According to the 1998 Census, Bakan is made up of 10 communes and 156 villages. The population of the district was 121,229 persons in 22,494 households at the time of the census. Bakan is the most populous district in Pursat province.

CDP Reti

CDP Reti S.p.A. is an Italian holding company. It is a joint venture of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, State Grid Corporation of China and other investors.

The company owned 28.98% shares of Snam and 29.85% shares of Terna, as the largest shareholders.

In 2014 Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, the Italian state-owned investment bank, sold 35% shares of CDP Reti to State Grid Corporation of China, a state-owned company of China, for €2.1 billion. CDP also sold an additional 3.26% shares to banking foundations, most of which already were a minority shareholders of CDP.In 2015 the company issued senior unsecured bond (ISIN: IT0005117095) to raise €750 million.

Cassa Depositi e Prestiti SpA (CDP) is a prominent Italian investment bank founded in 1850 in Turin; it is among the founders (with Caisse des Dépots, KfW and European Investment Bank) of the Long-Term Investors Club, a group that gather 18 major financial institutions and institutional investors from all over the world mainly from G20 countries.

After the unification of Italy, in 1863 it was restructured and the headquarters moved to Rome; it was constituted in its current form as a joint-stock company on 12 December 2003. 83% of the share capital is owned by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, the 16% is held by various banking foundations, while the remaining 1% in treasury shares. CDP is today the third largest Italian bank according to the value of the total assets owned by the group (around 425 billion euros in 2018).

Trans Adriatic Pipeline

Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP; Albanian: Gazsjellësi Trans-Adriatik, Azerbaijani: Trans Adriatik Boru Xətti Greek: Διαδριατικός Αγωγός Φυσικού Αερίου, Italian: Gasdotto Trans-Adriatico) is a pipeline project to transport natural gas, starting from Greece via Albania and the Adriatic Sea to Italy and further to Western Europe.

The pipeline would be supplied by natural gas from the second stage of the Shah Deniz (Azerbaijan) gas field development in the Azerbaijani section of Caspian Sea through the South Caucasus Pipeline and the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP). Since it will enhance energy security and diversify gas supplies for several European markets, the TAP project is supported by the European institutions and seen as a "Project of Common Interest" and a part of the Southern Gas Corridor.

Tuek Chhou District

Tuek Chhou District (Khmer: ស្រុកទឹកឈូ) is a district located in Kampot Province, in southern Cambodia. It surrounds Krong Kampot District, which contains the urban area of Kampot City.
