BIOMAN (lifting devices)

BIOMAN is a Greek machine manufacturer, based in Koropi, near Athens. It was founded in 1967 by two mechanical engineers and has focused on design and construction of a wide variety of lifting devices/material handling equipment (hydraulic and electric, platforms, lifts, forklifts, dumpers etc.). Its early products included the Tiger family of vehicles, consisting of light and heavy dumpers and forklifts (no longer produced).

Baker Motor Vehicle

Baker Motor Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of Brass Era electric automobiles in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1899 to 1914.

Birchfield (car)

Birchfield Motor Company of Rockingham, Western Australia was a small Australian specialty car manufacturer, making replicas of the 1937 SS Jaguar model on individual orders. Birchfield is the continuation of earlier British Shapecraft that is known to have built 18 replicas.After production from the Shapecraft factory ceased in the UK, a Shapecraft employee emigrated to Australia taking with him the Birchfield drawings and the last production car (#18) to use as a pattern. In 2004, at least two cars had been completed in Australia and two more were in production.

Black Motor Company

The Black was a brass era United States automobile, built at 124 East Ohio Street, Chicago, Illinois, in 1906.

It was a high wheeler buggy priced at a surprisingly low US$375-$450, when Gale's Model A was US$500, the high-volume Oldsmobile Runabout went for US$650, and the Ford "Doctor's Car" was US$850.The Black featured a 10 hp (7.5 kW) two-cylinder air-cooled gasoline engine, chain drive, wheel steering and (unusual for the era) double brakes. It bragged speeds of 2-25 mph (3.2–40 km/h) and mileage of 30mpg (12.75 l/100 km).Surreys and "top motor buggies" were also advertised.

Black Motor Company (1899)

The Black was a brass era American automobile, built in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1899.

Bugatti Automobiles

Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. (French pronunciation: ​[bygati]) is a French high-performance luxury automobiles manufacturer and a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, with its head office and assembly plant in Molsheim, Alsace, France. Volkswagen purchased the Bugatti trademark in June 1998 and incorporated Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. in 1999.

Bugatti presented several concept cars between 1998 and 2000 before commencing development of its first production model, the Veyron 16.4, delivering the first Veyron to a customer in 2005.

Edran

Edran is a Belgian automobile manufacturer. The company was founded in 1984 by André Hanjoul. The first car to be displayed in public was the Edran Spyder MK I at the 1994 Brussels Motor Show. In 2006, the company introduced its newest sports car, the Edran Enigma.

Ferrari

Ferrari (; Italian: [ferˈraːri]) is an Italian luxury sports car manufacturer based in Maranello. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1939 out of Alfa Romeo's race division as Auto Avio Costruzioni, the company built its first car in 1940. However, the company's inception as an auto manufacturer is usually recognized in 1947, when the first Ferrari-badged car was completed.

In 2014 Ferrari was rated the world's most powerful brand by Brand Finance. In June 2018, the 1964 250 GTO became the most expensive car in history, setting an all-time record selling price of $70 million.Fiat S.p.A. acquired 50% of Ferrari in 1969 and expanded its stake to 90% in 1988. In October 2014 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA) announced its intentions to separate Ferrari S.p.A. from FCA; as of the announcement FCA owned 90% of Ferrari.

The separation began in October 2015 with a restructuring that established Ferrari N.V. (a company incorporated in the Netherlands) as the new holding company of the Ferrari group and the subsequent sale by FCA of 10% of the shares in an IPO and concurrent listing of common shares on the New York Stock Exchange. Through the remaining steps of the separation, FCA's interest in Ferrari's business was distributed to shareholders of FCA, with 10% continuing to be owned by Piero Ferrari. The spin-off was completed on 3 January 2016.Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it is the oldest and most successful racing team, holding the most constructors championships (16) and having produced the highest number of drivers' championship wins (15). Ferrari road cars are generally seen as a symbol of speed, luxury and wealth.

Millot

Millot was a French automobile built by the Millot brothers in the town of Gray, in 1896.The car was steered with a flat steering wheel in the center of the car. The seating was a seat at the back facing forward and a seat on the front where the passengers would have been facing in the opposite direction. The engine was under the rear seat and turned the wheels with a huge chain. Another strange feature was the enormous flywheel.

In 1901, the 'Vis-à-vis' body was replaced by a modern 2+2 body. They also built cars with four-cylinder engines.

The automobile was not very successful and the number of cars produced is unknown. It is believed that only a very limited number were ever made. The company was closed in 1902.

Orphan (car)

The term orphan car accurately applies to any marque of motor vehicle built by a manufacturer that has discontinued business entirely. The term is sometimes inaccurately applied to a discontinued marque from a still-existing vehicle manufacturer (e.g. Oldsmobile) or a sub-marque (e.g. Thunderbird). In the case of a revived marque where a newer company resuscitates a discontinued brand (e.g. Maybach), only the original vehicles are accurately considered orphans.

Automobile (or car) – wheeled passenger vehicle that carries its own motor. Most definitions of the term specify that automobiles are designed to run primarily on roads, to have seating for one to six people, typically have four wheels and be constructed principally for the transport of people rather than goods. As of 2002 there were 590 million passenger cars worldwide (roughly one car for every eleven people), of which 140 million were in the U.S. (roughly one car for every two people).

S.C.A.P.

S.C.A.P. (Société de Construction Automobile Parisienne) was a French manufacturer of cars and proprietary engines, existing between 1912 and 1929.

S.C.A.P mainly manufactured small four-cylinder engines, with capacities from 894 cc and up to 3.0 litres. The factory also produced automobiles, particularly two-seater racing cars. The racing models were powered by a 1,100 cc engine with overhead valves equipped with a Cozette compressor, if the customer requested.

The larger models had either a 1,616 cc or a 1,704 cc, four-cylinder engine. In 1929, S.C.A.P unveiled a 2.0 litre, eight-cylinder engine with overhead valves, But this model was the last car made by S.C.A.P. Later on in the year, the company suffered from the great depression and in late 1929 was forced to close its factory for good.

Staver

The Staver was an American automobile manufactured at 76th and Wallace Streets in Chicago, Illinois, by the Staver Carriage Company from 1907 until 1914. It was also known as the Staver Chicago or Staver-Chicago.

The company's initial offerings were 18/20 hp high wheelers, but after two years, production was turned over to conventional four-cylinder models, which came in torpedo or touring bodywork.

For 1911, Staver offered a tourer at US$1600 and a five-seat open torpedo at US$1850. By contrast, the Brush Runabout was at US$485, the high-volume Oldsmobile Runabout went for US$650, the Colt Runabout and Cole 30 at US$1500, the Oakland 40 US$1600, an FAL for US$1750, an Enger 40 US$2000, and the American's base model was US$4250.1914's Staver 65 had a 452in3 (7413 cc) monobloc six.

Styl Kar

STYL KAR (its logo written in Greek as ΣΤΥΛ ΚΑΡ) was named after its founder, the engineer Stylianos Karakatsanis. Its entire history is representative of a large number of Greek companies who were engaged in the construction of simple utility vehicles.

Twombly (cyclecar)

The Twombly was a cyclecar manufactured in the US by Driggs-Seabury between 1913 and 1915. The cars had water-cooled, four-cylinder engines, two seats in tandem, and an underslung body. Few of them are still in existence.

The designer was Willard Irving Twombly (1873-1953), inventor and aviator. His largest investor, Reverend David Stuart Dodge petitioned for bankruptcy in 1915 claiming he was owed $428,238 by the Twombly group of companies for loans and interest. Shortly after this, Twombly became involved in an expensive divorce case and was eventually jailed following accusations of bigamy and misconduct.
