Khairi is a village of Tehsil Mirpur, It is split into Upper Khairi and Lower Khairi and has the population of around 300. The surrounding villages are called Sarthalla, Mehra and Muri.

Haziqul Khairi (Urdu: حازق‌ الخيری ‎; born November 5, 1931) is a Pakistani jurist who served as Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan (2006-2009), Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh (1999-2003), Judge of Sindh High Court (1988-1993) and Principal of Sindh Muslim Law College (1981-1988). He also served as Chairman Legal Committee of the Council of Islamic Ideology, where he drafted the Women's Protection Bill.During his stint as the Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh, Khairi took 50 suo moto actions on various issues including the encroachment of police on amenity and private plots. The shifting of the Karachi Sabzi Mandi to its new and current location at the Super Highway, making it the largest fruit and vegetable market in Asia, was one of the projects initiated and implemented during Khairi's tenure which received widespread appreciation. He was known to be a hardliner against corrupt officials and maladministration. In 2003, in an interview to Dawn, when he was asked about how was he able to get his orders implemented especially with rampant corruption present in the system, Khairi said there were a number of honest and God-fearing officers who came out to help him in discharging his duties.

After partition in 1947, Muslim rajputes (Muhammad Usman s/o Abdul Rasheed with his wife Hakimman and sons Jumshid Ali (late), Karaamat Ali(late), Sodager Ali and moujdin(late))) migrated to Mahni sial, tehsil kabirwala, District Khanewal, Punjab, Pakistan. They have all the facilities such as electricity (1976), natural gas, and two Govt high schools - one for boys and other for girls. The literacy rate of the peoples migrated is almost 90%.

The Gram panchayat has few resources, therefore infrastructure development is minimal.

Saroj Raj Choudhury

Saroj Raj Choudhury was an Indian environmentalist, wildlife conservationist, writer and the first Forest Conservator under the Government of Odisha. He was also the founder director of the Simlipal National Park, in the Mayurbhanj district in the Indian state of Odisha. Choudhury was known for the pugmark technique he employed for tiger census and for his comradeship with Khairi, a domesticated tigress. His experiences with the animal has been documented in a book, Khairi: The Beloved Tigress, written by him and published in 1977.
