Education

Bhatter College at Dantan was established in 1963 and is affiliated to Vidyasagar University. It offers undergraduate courses in arts, commerce and science and also has facilities for some post-graduate courses. The college is named after Mathuranath Bhatter, a local businessman and social worker who had contributed handsomely to set up the college.[6][7]

Bhatter College

Bhatter College, also known simply as Dantan College, is an undergraduate, coeducational college situated in Dantan, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. It was established in 1963. The college is under Vidyasagar University.The college aims at overall development of the locality and its adjoining areas directly through education and indirectly through participation in various socio-economic, cultural and welfare activities.

Dandabhukti was an ancient and medieval region/ territory spread across what are now Bankura, Hooghly, Paschim Medinipur and Purba Medinipur districts in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Ancient Rarh region was divided into several smaller regions – Kankagrambhukti, Bardhamanbhukti and Dandabhukti, as part of the Gupta Empire. Danda in Oriya means path. There was an ancient path from Rarh (or possibly from Magadha) to Kalinga. The territory may have acquired its name from the path. Dandabhukti was broadly the territory between the Dwarakeswar and Subarnarekha rivers. In the 10th century Dandabhukti was part of Bardhamanbhukti. Later, some parts of Dandabhukti were included in the territory of Utkal kings.Dandabhukti was a town which was administrative headquarters of the territory of same name. Dantan in Paschim Medinipur district is derived from the name of ancient Dandabhukti.

Francisco Javier Garciadiego Dantán (born 5 September 1951) is a Mexican historian specialized in the Mexican Revolution who formerly served as president of El Colegio de México. He is a former director-general of the National Institute of Historical Studies on the Mexican Revolutions (INEHRM), has authored several books and holds the 12th seat of the Mexican Academy of History, where he substituted the late Beatriz de la Fuente.Garciadiego graduated with a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). On 25 March 2009 he was awarded the Great Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic by the Government of Spain.
