Alfa Corse

Alfa Corse is Alfa Romeo's factory racing team. Throughout the years, Alfa Corse has competed in various forms of motorsport, from Grand Prix motor racing to touring car racing.

Alfa Corse was officially formed in the beginning of 1938,[1] after the racing department was moved back from unofficial factory team Scuderia Ferrari to "il Portello".[2] Enzo Ferrari was still in charge of department, but left one year later to build his own cars under the name Auto-Avio Costruzioni. From 1961 Alfa Romeo factory racing team was run by Autodelta.[1]

Alfa Romeo was purchased by the Fiat Group in 1986, and in 1987, Giorgio Pianta was moved from the management of Abarth to restart Alfa Corse.[3] After aborted attempts at producing the 164 Procar with Brabham and moving into the World Sports Prototype Championship, Alfa Corse settled on a return to touring car racing, starting with the Italian CIVT series, in 1992, with the 155 GTA. In 1993, Alfa Corse entered the DTM with the AWD V6-powered 155 TI, and created a Supertouring model, that would on got win the Italian Superturismo, the BTCC and the Spanish Touring Car Championship.

Alfa Romeo withdrew from the DTM (now named "International Touring Car Challenge") at the end of 1996, and Pianta was replaced by Francesco Galletto.[3] When the 156 replaced the 155, it was developed for Supertouring and Superproduction classes, racing in the European Touring Car Championship. In 2001, Alfa Corse merged with Mauro Sipsz's independent firm, Nordauto Engineering, to form N.Technology.[3]

The 1931 Belgian Grand Prix was a Grand Prix motor race held at Spa-Francorchamps on 12 July 1931.

1932 Grand Prix season

The 1932 Grand Prix season was the second AIACR European Championship season. The championship was won by Tazio Nuvolari, driving for the Alfa Corse team. Nuvolari won two of the three events that counted towards the championship. All championship races were between five and ten hour events.

1987 RAC Tourist Trophy

The 1987 RAC Tourist Trophy was the seventh round of the inaugural World Touring Car Championship. The race was held for cars eligible for Group A touring car regulations. It was held on September 6, 1987, at the Silverstone Circuit, in Silverstone, United Kingdom.

The race was won by Enzo Calderari and Fabio Mancini, driving a BMW M3. The leading car eligible for championship points was another M3, driven by Emanuele Pirro, Roberto Ravaglia and Roland Ratzenberger, who finished in second place.

1992 Italian Superturismo Championship

The 1992 Italian Superturismo Championship is the sixth edition of the Italian Superturismo Championship. The season began in Monza on 21 March and finished on the same racetrack on 18 October, after ten rounds. Nicola Larini won the S1 Class (Group A cars), driving an Alfa Romeo 155 GTA, while Fabrizio Giovanardi won the S2 Class (Super Touring cars).

1993 Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft

The 1993 Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft season was the tenth season of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (German Touring Car Championship) motor racing series. It was the first DTM to utilize FIA Class 1 Touring Cars regulations which limited engines to a maximum of six cylinders and 2.5 litres capacity, but allowed liberal modifications to engine, chassis and aerodynamics. Italian driver Nicola Larini won the championship for Alfa Corse after scoring 11 wins (series record) ahead of Roland Asch and Bernd Schneider, both driving for the AMG-Mercedes team.

1993 Italian Superturismo Championship

The 1993 Italian Superturismo Championship was the seventh edition. The season began in Monza on 21 March and finished in Mugello on 3 October, after ten rounds. Roberto Ravaglia won the championship, driving a BMW 318i; the German manufacturer won the constructors' championship, while Amato Ferrari won the privateers' trophy.

1994 Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft

The 1994 Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft season was the eleventh season of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (German Touring Car Championship). The season had ten rounds with two races each; two additional rounds were held outside Germany but these did not count towards the championship.

1995 Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft

The 1995 Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft season was the twelfth season of Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft motor racing. It featured the twelfth Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (German Touring Car Championship) series and the first International Touring Car Series, both open to FIA Class 1 Touring Cars. The two series were contested by the same cars, teams and drivers with Bernd Schneider winning both drivers titles and Mercedes-Benz winning both manufacturers awards.

1996 ITC Interlagos round

The 1996 ITC Interlagos round was the twelfth round of the 1996 International Touring Car Championship season. It took place on 27 October at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace.

Alessandro Nannini won the first race, starting from pole position, and Nicola Larini gained the second one, both driving a Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI.

1996 ITC Magny-Cours round

The 1996 ITC Magny-Cours round was the ninth round of the 1996 International Touring Car Championship season. It took place on 15 September at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours.

Alessandro Nannini won both races, driving an Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI.

1996 International Touring Car Championship

The 1996 International Touring Car Championship was the second season of its type. It was for FIA Class 1 Touring Cars and it was contested by Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo and Opel. It was formed of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft series that ran both a short German & International-based series in 1995. These were fused together to form the International Touring Car Championship (abbreviated to ITC). The eventual champion was Manuel Reuter driving an Opel Calibra, and Opel won the manufacturer's championship.

Alfa Romeo in motorsport

During its history, Alfa Romeo has competed successfully in many different categories of motorsport, including Grand Prix motor racing, Formula One, sportscar racing, touring car racing and rallies. They have competed both as a constructor and an engine supplier, via works entries (usually under the name Alfa Corse or Autodelta) and private entries. The first racing car was made in 1913, three years after the foundation of A.L.F.A., the 40-60HP had 6 liter straight-4 engine. Alfa Romeo quickly gained a good name in motorsport and gave a sporty image to the whole marque.

Giuseppe Farina

Emilio Giuseppe "Nino" Farina (Italian pronunciation: [dʒuˈzɛppe ˈniːno faˈriːna]; 30 October 1906 – 30 June 1966), was an Italian racing driver and was the first official Formula One World Champion, gaining the title in 1950. He was also the Italian Champion in 1937, 1938 and 1939.

Nicola Larini

Nicola Larini (born 19 March 1964) is an Italian racing driver. He participated in 75 Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on 6 September 1987. He finished second in the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix on a substitute outing for Ferrari, but only scored points once more in his career. He enjoyed greater success in touring car racing, primarily for Alfa Romeo.

Tripoli Grand Prix

The Tripoli Grand Prix (Italian: Gran Premio di Tripoli) was a motor racing event first held in 1925 on a racing circuit outside Tripoli, the capital of what was then Italian Tripolitania. It lasted until 1940.

Ugo Sivocci

Ugo Sivocci (August 29, 1885 - September 8, 1923) was an Italian race car driver.Born in Salerno, Sivocci started his racing career as one of the pioneers of Italian bicycle racing, obtaining a second place in the 600 km long classic Corsa Nazionale. After World War I, he worked as an auto mechanic in Milan. Being a friend of Enzo Ferrari, he was hired by Alfa Romeo in 1920 to drive Alfa in three-man works team: (Alfa Corse) with Antonio Ascari and Enzo Ferrari. With the HP 20-30 ES Sport he finished 2nd in the Parma - Poggio Berceto race. In 1923 he began to drive the Alfa Romeo RL, and quickly won numerous races. In the same year, he won the Targa Florio with RL Targa Florio which was his major racing achievement. The race was a great success for Alfa Romeo as second (Ascari) and fourth places (Giulio Masetti)

were occupied by Alfa.

In the same year Sivocci was killed while testing Merosi's new P1 at Monza. On the same day of the accident, a press release of the engineer Nicola Romeo announced the withdrawal of other Alfa Romeo cars competing. Sivocci's car was painted with the green cloverleaf on a white background that was to become Alfa's good luck token.

His car was carrying number 17, which was never again assigned to Italian racing cars.
