1977 NFL Draft

The 1977 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held May 3–4, 1977, at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, New York.[1][2] The league also held its first supplemental draft, which took place after the regular draft and before the regular season.

The Wildcats beat four different ranked teams during the season, scoring 209 points while allowing 151 points. Kentucky won the 1976 Peach Bowl and finished the season 8–4 and ranked #19 in the country.

Running back Larry Canada led the team with 993 rushing yards, the fifth-highest total in the Big Ten during the 1976 season. Ira Matthews was the team's leading scorer with 42 points on seven touchdowns.David Charles was selected by the AP as a second-team wide receiver, and Dave Crossen by the UPI as a second-team linebacker, on the 1976 All-Big Ten Conference football team.

1977 Kansas City Chiefs season

The 1977 Kansas City Chiefs season was the franchise's 8th season in the National Football League, the 15th as the Kansas City Chiefs, and the 18th overall. This season was the worst in franchise history until the 2008 season, with the Chiefs winning only two of fourteen games. After an 0–5 start, Head coach Paul Wiggin was fired following a 44–7 loss to Cleveland in week seven. Tom Bettis took over as interim head coach for the rest of the season. The team endured a six-game losing streak to conclude the season at 2–12.

A. J. Duhe

Adam Joseph Duhe Jr. (born November 27, 1955) is a former American football linebacker who played eight seasons for the Miami Dolphins from 1977 to 1984 in the National Football League (NFL).

Duhe played college football at Louisiana State University and was drafted in the first round of the 1977 NFL Draft. He was the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in his rookie year. He was a one-time Pro Bowler, in 1984.In the 1982 AFC Championship game, Duhe intercepted Richard Todd three times as the Dolphins defeated the New York Jets 14-0. He returned the third interception 35 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal Miami's trip to Super Bowl XVII.

Al Romano

Al Romano (born April 14, 1954) is a former gridiron football defensive tackle who played two seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts. He was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the eleventh round of the 1977 NFL Draft. Romano played college football at the University of Pittsburgh and attended Solvay High School in Solvay, New York. He was a consensus All-American in 1976.

Parrish played college football at the University of Georgia and attended Coffee County High School in Douglas, Georgia. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball but chose to attend the University of Georgia. He was a consensus All-American in 1976. Parrish and four other men were arrested in 2001 in Australia on charges of drug trafficking after smuggling 2,457 pounds of cocaine into the country.

Michael Cobb (born December 20, 1955) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League.

Cobb played football for Michigan State University. He was selected in the first round (22nd overall) by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1977 NFL Draft. He played five seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Chicago Bears. After playing one season with the Bengals, he was traded to the Chicago Bears for whom he played from 1978 through 1981. Cobb also played for the Michigan Panthers in the USFL during the 1983 and 1984 seasons where he caught 118 passes for 1,319 yards with 10 touchdowns.He is a cousin of Sherman Smith, a former running back and the current running backs coach for the Seattle Seahawks.

The #1 Overall Selection in the 1977 NFL Draft, Bell was inducted posthumously into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2004.

Wilson Faumuina (June 11, 1954 – September 26, 1986) was an American football defensive lineman who played five seasons in the National Football League for the Atlanta Falcons. He died at age 32 of heart failure. Wilson attended Balboa High School in San Francisco and played both defensive end and offensive tackle. He was All City several times. Wilson then attended San Jose State from which he was drafted by the Falcons as a first round draft pick, 20th overall in 1977 NFL Draft. He played five seasons with the Falcons from 1977-1981.
