This is a list of the United States Senators who have represented the State of New York. The date of the start of the tenure is either the first day of the legislative term (Senators who were elected regularly before the term began), or the day when they took the seat (Senators who were elected in special elections to fill vacancies, or after the term began). New York's current Senators are Democrats Kirsten Gillibrand and Democratic Leader of the United States Senate Chuck Schumer.
